What does it feel like? The Lite Cushion™ has a slightly less grounded feel and takes more balance than the solid zafu (i.e. there is more work involved with staying on.) However, usually after a minute or two one forgets all about it. Some people like it so much they use it as their every day cushion even at home. But most people consider it a travel cushion. *Tip* It helps to have the Lite Cushion™ on a mat or folded blanket for stability (as oppossed to a hard floor or surface). Also, the bouyancy of the cushion can be considered a training for better balance. The Inflatable Zafu has some subtle advantages over a standard zafu, which can only be realized by sitting on one.

What is it made of? The Lite Cushion™ has a normal cloth cover just like the standard zafu (durable 100% cotton), with a plastic, high quality beach ball inside. It looks almost just like a regular zafu. Also, the cover is machine-washable.

How durable is it? The Lite Cushion™ can be used on bare ground and can hold people over 200 pounds. In fact, we have not yet determined the weight limit! They are carried all over the backcountry and used for camping with great results. The inner ball will wear out with extended use (similar to a bicycle tube) and is replaceable for a modest $3.00. Most balls last for years with occasional use. With everyday use they usually last up to a year.

Do your balls squeek when you move around? Yes and No. They do squeek some when shifting and getting up or down, unless some powdery substance is spread on them. We like arrowroot powder for our balls. It is easy to find in the herb section of any health food store and is non-scented to avoid toxic fumes such as come from things like talcum powder.

How many balls do I need? Having a spare ball is like an insurance policy. Balls can get punctured, and if you are in a foreign country, it might be difficult to replace. On the other hand, a small puncture can be patched with a substance called Seamgrip, available in most camping stores, which takes up less room and is lighter than a spare ball. Or fingernail polish and other things work as well.

What is the size? The medium is approximately 7.5 inches high and twelve inches wide, and fits most people up to 6 feet tall. The large, approximately one inch taller and three inches wider, is best for bigger people. They are essentially the same size as a standard solid zafu.

How much does it weigh? The Lite Cushion™ weighs six ounces and fits in a coat pocket when deflated.It is ultimately convenient and easy to travel with.

How is it inflated? The ball is inflated with your mouth and takes a minute or two to fully inflate. The nozzle is accessed via the flap under the handle. You push the nozzle in after inflating and that keeps it from leaking.

Why do you use a beach ball--of all things--and made in China at that?
A beach ball is the lightest bladder available. We could use a more durable bladder, but that would add to the weight and the cost. We have searched the globe, and unfortunately, we cannot find beach balls anywhere but China. We contribute to the Drepung Loseling Monestary as a gesture to end the suffering caused by Chinese rule over Tibet.
