Laconneau offers an intensive course series that combines one-on-one mentoring with group training to encourage the development of a daily practice of meditation and spiritual observance based on a traditional form of European Gnosticism.

The Laconneau Tradition is derived from an ancient path of Gnostic spiritual development originating in Occitania - the Languedoc region of Southern France. It is a largely oral tradition historically passed down from woman to woman In accordance with Gnostic beliefs, it stresses inner growth and development, positive ethics, and devotion to the Divine Feminine. Although primarily found in France, traces of similar traditions can be found in other areas throughout Southern Europe.|

Contemplative Outreach is a spiritual network of individuals and small faith communities committed to living the contemplative dimension of the Gospel in everyday life through the practice of Centering Prayer. The contemplative dimension of the Gospel manifests itself in an ever-deepening union with the living Christ and the practical caring for others that flows from that relationship.

Our purpose is to share the method of Centering Prayer and its immediate conceptual background. We also encourage the practice of Lectio Divina, particularly its movement into Contemplative Prayer, which a regular and established practice of Centering Prayer facilitates.

We identify with the Christian Contemplative Heritage. While we are formed by our respective denominations, we are united in our common search for God and the experience of the living Christ through Centering Prayer. We affirm our solidarity with the contemplative dimension of other religions and sacred traditions, with the needs and rights of the whole human family, and with all creation.

The World Community for Christian Meditation is an international organization of meditators whose practice of this universal tradition is rooted in the teachings of the Gospels and the early Christian monastic methods of prayer and contemplation. Forgotten over the centuries, this aspect of Christian spirituality in the life of the Church was rediscovered by Fr. John Main (1926-1982), a Benedictine monk who in the 1970s reintroduced it into the lives of religious and lay people alike.

The Awakening of the Heart is the discovery and unfolding of the innermost core of a human being--the place where we encounter the source of wisdom and compassion within. This unfolding of the spiritual 'heart' is a theme found in many religious traditions. As a Christian rooted in the contemplative tradition of Christian mysticism, my own spiritual journey has been profoundly affected by the practice of meditation and my encounters with other traditions, particularly Zen Buddhism. My aim now is to aid others on their spiritual journey, as well as to help revitalize and develop aspects of the Christian tradition that are central to it but often misunderstood or neglected.
