Bhávaná Society- Established in Washington DC, in 1982, is dedicated to the practice of Theravadan Buddhist meditation. Bhavana is a term meaning mental cultivation, and Theraváda refers to the oldest school of Buddhism.  The teachings can be traced back 2,500 years to Buddha himself, and have been maintained intact by the world's oldest continuous religious order. Bhavana Society is located on 42 acres of secluded forest near High View, West Virginia (approximately 100 miles west of DC).  The center offers Society members and friends rare opportunities to practice Vipassaná meditation in an ideal setting, in keeping with the forest tradition.

University of Connecticut Buddhist Association-The UCBA is a group of undergrad and graduate students, faculty, staff, and university community members who come together to learn, discuss, and practice the philosophy and teachings of the Buddha. The association is open to anyone, regardless of ethnic, cultural, or religious background and is affiliated with no specific school or tradition of Buddhism.
